The first real challenge to the Brown V. BOE decision happened at Central High School in Little Rock, AR. Knowing that Black students planned to attend Central High the governor called out the national guard to protect them. However, they had no plans of protecting them, instead they deemed it unsafe for the students and so turned them away. Frustrated President Eisenhower sent in the 101 Airborne to escort the students and make sure they could get to class safely.
